Role Overview

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information, supporting strategic financial decision-making and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. This role is responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, leading reconciliations, and supporting internal and external audits. The Senior Accountant also acts as a key point of contact for cross-functional teams on financial matters and contributes to continuous process improvement within the finance function.

 

Key accountabilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Review and approve journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including asset creation, depreciation, and reconciliation
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies proactively
  • Support the preparation of management and statutory financial reports
  • Collaborate with external auditors, providing documentation and responding to audit queries
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies
  • Support tax-related reporting, including indirect tax reconciliations and documentation
  • Assist with budget monitoring and variance analysis in collaboration with finance leadership
  • Contribute to system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial control
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members

 

Preferred qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) or working towards one

 

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or equivalent)
  • Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements
  • Proficient with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and handle complexity
  • Experience supporting or leading audits is desirable
  • Experience supporting group consolidation activities, including intercompany reconciliations and consolidation reporting, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Language Proficiency: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C1+)
  • For Italy based roles: fluent in Italian (CEFR C1+), French is a plus
  • For France based roles: fluent in French (CEFR C1+), Italian is a plus
  • For US based roles: Italian or French is a plus

  • Salary range: 37.000,00 - 46.000,00. 
    The final salary will be determined on the basis of the selected candidate's qualifications and professional experience
