Project Planner

Role Description

newcleo is driving forwards an exciting and challenging international programme to develop and deploy our innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactor technology.  We are looking for highly motivated and pro-active Project Planner to join our Enterprise PMO team, working as part of the R&D Project Controls team and interfacing seamlessly with the Material Development department to support the need for time and costs scheduling, risk identification together with the project risk manager, and progress reporting to the Project Director.

Materials development is a core programme within the newcleo R&D, with the aim of qualifying existing steels in molten lead and defining their chemical behaviour, as well as studying innovative coatings and bulk materials for future development of the newcleo reactor fleet. The materials research program has both short-term goals and long-term scheduling and is supported by 3 state-of-the-art laboratories implemented by newcleo in collaboration with academic institutions in Turin and in the ENEA Research Center in Brasimone.

Main Activities

• Project planning and scheduling activities and deliverables for newcleo’s projects, including preparation of baseline schedules for development/ implementation phase and managing progress against agreed baselines/key milestones.
• Establish and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure and overall activity plan/ dependencies.
• Maintain plans in newcleo’s chosen planning tool Oracle Primavera P6.
• Generate and communicate high quality project performance data (schedule, resource and integration with cost) to support overall project management, strategic decision making and risk/ issue management.  
• Perform schedule risk analysis/critical path analysis and earned value analysis as required.
• Identify critical milestones and interfaces and work with other project team members to ensure these are well defined and tracked.
• Implement appropriate and proportionate baseline management and change control.
• Work closely with group programme management office to ensure quality of information and data exchange, clarity of interfaces and continuous improvement of processes and systems.
• Work collaboratively as part of a small agile project controls team to ensure proportionate but best practice project management and control of Italian projects. 

Desired Qualification

Education:

• Master's degree in Materials Engineering or Physics or Chemistry or equivalent.

Languages:    

• Fluent Italian and English
• French is a plus

Experience / Professional requirements:

• Minimum 5/6 years experience in research projects (stage-gate approach) working in a planning team/department and on large complex projects.
• Experience of carrying out schedule risk analysis and implementing systems for earned value analysis. Experience of integrating cost and schedule.
• Good commercial awareness and broad project management/ controls capabilities.
• Highly skilled with Primavera P6 and MS Office suite of tools (including Power BI application).  
• Attention to detail, with ability to simplify data for presentation to a wide range of audiences.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Creates credibility with internal stakeholders, able to build confidence and influence effectively.
• Collaborative, works well as part of a diverse team.
• Combination of academic qualification and appropriate professional experience; Evidence of continuous professional development and career progression. Professional affiliation preferrable.
