Role Description


The Head of Supply Chain and Contracts will be responsible for all procurement, commercial management and supply chain management for newcleo srl (Italy) and will input to and influence the Global Supply Chain Strategy and management arrangements to enable delivery of newcleo’s vision and mission. 

You will operate at strategic level including defining the overall supply chain strategy for Italy, which flows down the requirements of the Global Supply Chain Strategy, ensuring robust make/ buy decisions, proportionate value for money demonstration, a competent and well incentivised supply chain is in place with optimisation of risk apportionment and maximising synergies and alignment across newcleo’s group companies.  

You will lead a small team of Supply Chain and Contract Management professionals to implement best practice arrangements for the day-to-day management of procurement, contract management and supply chain development & relationship activities, collaborating with colleagues internationally to ensure consistency across the newcleo group of companies.  The role provides significant opportunity to shape the direction of newcleo’s Italian project and how we operate globally within the countries in which we operate as part of an exciting and rapidly growing business.


Main Activities

 

  • Lead newcleo’s Italian Supply Chain and Contract Management (SC&CM) function and activities to ensure the requirements for Italy are well planned, defined, tendered and managed with appropriately qualified suppliers.
  • Build the SC&CM capability (People, Process, System) in Italy to ensure there is appropriate support in place to effectively and efficiently deliver the supply chain requirements within Italy and support the delivery of the mission of the Global Supply Chain Organisation and the Global Supply Chain strategy.
  • Contribute to and influence the Global Supply Chain Strategy and ensure this is implemented within Italy for all supply chain and contract management activities.
  • Contribute to, influence and implement the Global Supply Chain Development Strategy and ensure delivery of actions allocated to the Italian SC&CM team.
  • Contribute to robust Global processes and procedures that are in line with newcleo policies and ensure implementation in Italy for procurement, contract management and supply chain development and relations management.
  • Provide Supply Chain and Contract Management support, advice and assistance to the Italian Research & Development and Engineering delivery team ensuring contracts deliver expected outcomes and commercial risks are managed and mitigated.
  • Ensure contract cost reports and financial data are robustly managed and integrated with project controls and company enterprise resource planning systems. 
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Contract Management disciplines across other newcleo operating companies to ensure consistency of approach, realisation of synergies and an international perspective.
  • Establish strong supply chain partnerships and industrial collaborations to realise delivery success.
  • Lead by example on international collaboration, knowledge sharing and team working with colleagues across Italy, UK and France.
  • Contribute to building newcleo’s overall Italian business case.
  • Play a key role as part of the Italian leadership team and Global Supply Chain Organisation and Steering Committee.

 

Desired Qualification

 

Education:    

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, economics, finance or a related area, (Master's degree preferred)

 

Languages:    

  • Fluent Italian and English.
  • French is beneficial, but not essential.

 

Experience / Professional requirements:

  • Significant experience of delivering and adding value in a similar “Head of” Supply Chain, procurement and contract management leadership role, ideally in the nuclear or conventional power industry, and with strong experience across, corporate, professional services and major project procurement (i.e. R&D, engineering, equipment procurement and construction); Values at £bn+.
  • Experience of NEC, FIDIC and other standard or bespoke forms of contract would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of international nuclear supply chain would be advantageous.
  • Extensive experience of creating bespoke commercial agreements, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and partnerships is essential.
  • Able to think strategically in determining appropriate supply chain & procurement strategies and contract arrangements to incentivise strong performance and long lasting relationships.
  • Exceptional commercial negotiation skills and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience of collaborative working arrangements and joint success incentive arrangements. 
  • Extensive experience of the development and implementation of supplier relationship management strategies and plans.
  • A highly capable and adaptable leader; able to provide evidence of building and growing capability across people, processes and systems and implementing transformational change.
  • Willing to consider new and innovative approaches; Solution focussed whilst able to constructively challenge.
  • Qualified to degree level in an appropriate subject.  MCIPS or MRICS or equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as part of the role.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build effective relationships with newcleo colleagues, the wider newcleo business and the supply chain.
