Role description

To collaborate in the Lead Fast Reactor (LFR) design activities we are looking for Experienced Fluid System Engineer in the field of nuclear fluid systems. You will be in charge of engineering studies for the design of nuclear auxiliary systems. Many nuclear auxiliary systems are required to keep the reactor running smoothly, see the following examples: 

  • Coolant control: heating, filling and emptying of lead in the reactor, management of lead chemistry. 
  • Primary circuit preheating. 
  • Gas management systems. 
  • Reactor cooling systems.

 

Main activities 

  • Responsible for the design of one or more reactor fluid process systems, depending on their complexity, in all phases of the project. 
  • Define the objectives and requirements to be met by the various systems. 
  • Carry out feasibility studies, conceptual studies and detailed studies for each of the systems under your responsibility. 
  • Perform pre-sizing calculations. 
  • Collaborate in identifying innovative solutions. 
  • Develop test processes and manage test execution to validate new designs. 
  • Drawing up equipment specifications and monitoring implementation. 
  • Define procedures for commissioning, start-up and operation of systems. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

 

Desired qualifications

Education:

  • Degree in Nuclear, mechanical, process. 
  • Master’s or PhD is considered an added value.

Languages:     

  • For all locations: Working knowledge of English is a must 
  • For location in Italy: Fluent Italian, French is a plus

Experience / Professional requirements: 

  • 10 years of Experience in a nuclear or other highly regulated environment and good understanding of safety aspects would be a definite advantage. 
  • Experience of developing process systems preferably in a new build nuclear context. 
  • Experience in writing and presenting technical documentation. 
  • Experience in nuclear power development projects. 
  • Ability to participate in team meetings and prepare technical presentations.
