Overview of the role:

 

newcleo is driving forwards an exciting and challenging international programme to develop and deploy our innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactor technology.  Our Supply Chain team is responsible for Procurement, Contract Management and Supply Chain Management and we are looking for highly motivated and pro-active Senior Supply Chain Development Manager to undertake strategic supply chain development and supplier relationship management.

 

You will work as part of the newcleo Global Supply Chain team and will be responsible for identifying gaps in supply chain capability, developing, implementing and leading on supply chain development activities through liaison with colleagues from across the business and specifically in France and Italy to ensure a global approach.   You will work closely with the Engineering and Project Delivery teams leveraging the talents and capabilities of our people across Europe to ensure alignment of approach.

 

As newcleo is a startup company the role will require a hands on proactive approach, the individual must be comfortable with early stage programmes and have the ability to work with ambiguity and change and be able to build strong relationships with colleagues from across newcleo’s functions and group of companies. The role provides the opportunity for an individual to grow their capability and experience through supporting active supply chain management, working with the Head of Supply Chain and Contracts UK with the opportunity to progress in the organisation.

 

The role will report directly to the Head of Supply Chain and Contracts - UK as part of the UK Supply Chain Team, the role will closely interface with Supply Chain colleagues in France and Italy as well as  with the rest of the UK Operations team, particularly the UK Project Management Office (PMO), Quality, Environment Social and Governance, Stakeholder Engagement and Finance teams.

 

The core duties & responsibilities the role will cover includes:

 

  • Lead early supplier engagement within the UK, leading and supporting supplier development activities in the UK and Globally to meet newcleo’s current and long term requirements
  • Responsibility for identification of capability and capacity risks, opportunities and gaps and, developing mitigation and realisation plans to address through utilisation of supply chain.
  • Development of a global supply chain map and database, including performance assessment criteria and actual assessment of known suppliers, ensuring all potential requirements for newcleo are covered.
  • Lead on some supplier qualification activities to build the newcleo approved suppliers list
  • Develop and drive arrangements to ensure collaborative working relationships with supply chain partners
  • Develop and deliver a plan to achieve accreditation to ISO 44001Collaborative Business Relationships
  • Develop and implement appropriate policies, procedures, standards and governance
  • Responsible for identifying, developing and managing any required agreements and partnerships with third parties that sit outside the traditional supply chain community
  • Identify opportunities to optimise supply chain efficiencies
  • Provide input into a packaging and category management strategies
  • Map Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) requirements against the supply chain, monitor and report on performance
  • Develop and proactively maintain a supplier portal as an aid to best in class stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and deliver training as required to newcleo colleagues
  • Support to and lead on procurement and contract management activities if appropriate

 

The role can be based in our London,  Manchester or Gloucester offices, where we have a hybrid & flexible working policy of 3 days per week in the office. There is also travel opportunities to our offices in Turin (Italy) and Lyon (France), in order to collaborate and build strong working relationships across our Global Engineering Team.

Is this role right for you?

 

We would like to speak to people who have:

 

  • Demonstrable senior experience of undertaking supply chain development within the UK Nuclear sector across a broad sector of goods and services. 
  • Experience of developing, implementing supplier qualification process and performance criteria including subsequent performance measurement.
  • Developed and implemented supplier relationship management strategies and plans.
  • Up to date knowledge of the nuclear sector supplier landscape and supplier development initiatives and programmes.
  • Experience of NEC, FIDIC and other standard or bespoke forms of contract would be advantageous.
  • Ideally experience of both pre and post contract activities covering procurement, contract management and supply chain management.
  • Typically, a degree in Business Management, Quantity Surveying, Commercial/Cost Management, or a related field, coupled with a professional qualification such as MCIPS, MRICS, or equivalent.
  • Right to work full time in the UK & can achieve a national security clearance equivalent to a BPSS standard, or higher, within a reasonable period.
