About the Role:
newcleo is driving forwards an exciting and challenging international programme to develop and deploy our innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactor technology.
Our Supply Chain team is responsible for Procurement, Contract Management, Category Management and Supply Chain Development & Management and we are looking for a highly motivated and pro-active Supply Chain Manager to lead on all supply chain matters for IT support to the business.
You'll be responsible for the complete Supply Chain lifecycle for IT suppliers including procuring and managing these relationships, analysing performance rates, seeking continual improvement to ensure the business has the best IT suppliers in place to meet the needs of the business. You will also be responsible for Non-Technical procurement for a scope covering some country or global needs.
You will work as part of the newcleo Supply Chain team and will be responsible for implementing and undertaking robust and disciplined procurement and contract management in line with newcleo’s processes. You will work closely with our IT technical team currently based in London, and with our teams across all our geographical locations.
As newcleo is a scale up company the role will require a hands-on proactive approach, the individual must be comfortable with early stage programmes and have the ability to work with ambiguity and change and be able to build strong relationships with colleagues from across newcleo’s functions and group of companies.
The role will report directly to the Supply Chain Director, the role will also interface with the Chief Information Officer and with the rest of the Supply Chain and IT team functions.
The role will be a mix of office working based in Manchester, London, Lyon or Turin for a minimum of 3 days per week and home working. In addition, there may be the need for occasional travel to our other office locations mainly in the UK, France and Italy to support coordination with the other newcleo Supply Chain and IT functions.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Fostering collaborative working relationships with supply chain partners
- Preparation of annual IT supply chain strategy in partnership with the IT function
- Work with CIO to evaluate best strategies and options for delivery
- Understand and adopt agile, pragmatic and fast-track principles into IT sourcing best practices.
- Drive commercial value through all agreements through application of tender process to seek competitive pricing and where appropriate investment from suppliers and joint success arrangements
- Consolidate IT demand across all group companies, ensuring commercial value is realised for the group
- Leading the procurement process for new IT and Non-Technical solutions and contract renewals.
- Active management of the contracts to enable delivery of opportunities presented through procurement process.
- Contract management activities will include managing change, managing payments, undertaking robust monthly reporting and driving continual improvement of existing processes
- Undertaking contract commercial reviews to ensure contractual deliverables are met and managing relationships between both internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing and undertaking proportionate assurance audits on supplier costs and internal audits to ensure that newcleo are compliant with internal process and procedures
- Creating and managing the drafting and structure of IT and Non-Technical contracts including development of newcleo’s standard IT and Non-Technical terms as a template. Reviewing and defining any changes to ensure fit for purpose.
- Leading negotiations for supplier contracts, influencing processes to ensure that they meet the requirements of newcleo
- Ensuring all non newcleo contracts comply with company standards and policies
- Leading the negotiations of commercial proposals for contract renewals in line with agreed budgets
- Leading the negotiations of commercial proposals for new supplier contracts, influencing where required to ensure they reflect the set standards to drive quality and value
- Support any identified supplier development programmes if appropriate
- Work with the business to identify and plan all IT & Non-Technical procurements that have been identified within the business planning process
Your Skills and Experience:

- A degree in Supply Chain management or a Supplier Management qualification or significant relevant experience.
- Professional Qualification or Chartership of a relevant Chartered Institute preferrable but not essential.
- Significant experience gained in a fast paced environment working with strategic IT partners
- Previous supplier management or procurement experience including with tier 1 IT suppliers delivering services to a global business for multi-million £/€ contracts
- Significant experience in a supplier management or procurement role, ideally having managed IT Suppliers & contracts
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with 3rd party suppliers
- A good understanding of Hardware, Software and Cloud service contracts
- Knowledge regarding best practice strategies for Non-Technical contracts, and experience in Non-Technical procurement
- Experience of working within the nuclear/regulated sectors would be advantageous.
- Evidence of savings realised through supplier contracts
- (For a UK based role) Right to work full time in the UK & can achieve a national security clearance equivalent to a BPSS standard, or higher, within a reasonable period.
