Senior I&C Engineer

Role description

To collaborate to the Lead Fast Reactor (LFR) design activities focusing on instrumentation engineering of experimental facilities, steam / condensate cycle, utilities and water treatment.

Main activities

• Perform instrumentation engineering in all project phase.
• Carry out feasibility studies, conceptual, basic and detail design.
• Develop company standards and specific design criteria for instrumentation.
• Perform preliminary sizing of instrumentation and actuators, such as control valves, flow elements, pressure, level and temperature sensors, thermowells. Experience with chemical analysers (e.g. mass spectrometers) is a plus.
• Preparation of instrumentation specification for packages.
• Development of material requisitions.
• Developing or reviews of instrumentation bulk material quantity estimates.
• Development of I/O data base for DCS, PLC, SIS, F&G and packages.
• Preparation of instrumentation lists, instrumentation datasheet, wiring and loop diagrams, loop folders, calculation reports.
• Preparation of purchase specification, technical queries, technical bid evaluation, of Supplier's offers for instrumentation.
• Preparation of cable block diagrams.
• Preparation of instrumentation hook-ups, bulk material take-off and assist designers in modelling of instruments, junction boxes placement and allocation of remote IOs cabinets.
• Participation in 3D Model Review Sessions, HazOp and SIL analysis.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Coordinates assigned work with other technical personnel as directed.

Desired qualifications

Education

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
• Master or PhD is a plus.
• High School diploma can be evaluated if supported by a strong experience (10+ years) in instrumentation design AND field activities.

Experience

• Approximately, 10+ years’ experience in instrumentation design of industrial plants. Experience in power or nuclear plants’ balance of plant is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of instrumentation engineering techniques, design of engineered systems, and engineering and relevant design calculations.
• Good knowledge of field instrumentation, from design to commissioning.
• Intermediate knowledge of materials employed in instrumentation.
• Basic knowledge of process automation.
• Good knowledge of instrument cables, automation cables, network cables, fiber optic.
• Good knowledge of industry, regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
• Good knowledge of automation engineering lifecycle for development of feasibility studies, basic design, FEED, detailed engineering, commissioning and start-up.
• Good knowledge of design and analysis principles for large or complex systems (system engineering).
• Good knowledge of Office® suite and Visio®, AutoCad.
• Knowledge of plant design software (ESAIN, AVEVA, SPAC…) is a plus.

Language Proficiency:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C1+).
• Fluent in Italian (CEFR C1+), French is a plus.

What we offer

• Permanent contract.
• Salary range: RAL 41.000- 52.000€. The final salary will be determined on the basis of the selected candidate's qualifications and professional experience.
